Artist Statement: Why granite? Why a stone wall? It’s an abstraction of freedom vs. restriction and what we perceive vs. how we actually live. I created a walled-in world with, seemingly, only one escape. The little door: The vacation we desperately need, the mental relinquishing of reality, or the physical abandonment of a chaotic life. Often the choices we make – whether self-imposed or not – are the ones that keep us from any escape.
